Love and Deepspace: How To Unlock Caleb

Just months after Sylus's dramatic entrance in Love And Deepspace, the developers introduced Caleb, the highly anticipated fifth love interest and local favorite. Unlike the other love interests, Caleb is introduced well before he becomes a romance option or combat companion.

Players who've reached Chapter Four, "Under Twilight," will already know Caleb. His return after a somewhat unexplained absence might leave you with questions, but we have all the answers. Here's how to welcome Caleb back to Love and Deepspace.

This article contains minor spoilers for Chapter Four of "Under Deepspace" and Caleb's main story chapter, "Homecoming Wings."

Meet Caleb

Caleb is the main character's childhood friend. Following the Chronorift Catastrophe, both Caleb and the MC found a home with Josephine, whom they affectionately call Grandma. While not related by blood, they grew up together under Grandma's care.

Caleb is a deepspace pilot with the Deepspace Aviation Administration and the fifth love interest in Love and Deepspace.

Unlocking Caleb

Caleb's introduction is similar to Sylus's in many ways, particularly regarding companion availability. However, you can unlock him much earlier than Sylus.

To unlock Caleb, complete Episode Three of "Vanishing Skyward," specifically "Empathic Interrogation." After completing the episode, you'll receive a notification confirming your ability to interact with Caleb in the Deepspace Cafe, memories, dates, via your phone, and in combat.

Even before unlocking him as a companion, you can collect his memories from the permanent Wish Pool, Xspace Echo, and any limited pools featuring his memories. Once unlocked, you can play through these memories.

Completing the episode and receiving the notification also allows you to begin earning Affinity with Caleb. Increase your Affinity through dates and Playtime interactions.

While technically unlockable before finishing the main story, we strongly advise completing at least Chapters One through Four of the main story before starting "Homecoming Wings."

For a more cohesive narrative and immersive experience, play through all previous story stages, including the main story branches for Sylus, Xavier, Zayne, and Rafayel.

If you prefer not to catch up on all those chapters, don't worry. You'll receive a summary of key plot points from earlier chapters when you begin Episode One, "Infiltration."
