One thing that the developers of Valorant have been clear about from the very start is that they won't try to rush agent releases, which means that you might have to wait quite a while before seeing a new face in your games. Sometimes, the new agent doesn't quite hit the mark even after this wait.
Thankfully, Tejo isn't one of these agents as he has some of the most exciting abilities in his kit. While you can see the resemblance of these abilities with other agents, they still have their unique aspects that makes this agent refreshing to play.
Before you even think of buying a new agent in Valorant, the first step is to figure out what the agent's role is and what that means when it comes to their gameplay. There are four roles in the game: Sentinel, Duelist, Controller, and Initiator, with each having a specific playstyle alongside the flexibility to switch according to your preference.
Tejo has been given the Initiator role, which is meant to be for the characters who can initiate the battle. While this is important on both sides, Initiators are especially useful when you're attacking since you consistently need information on where the enemies could be hiding on the site.
While Tejo is useful in that regard, he has so much more to his kit that makes him great at all aspects of the gameplay.

Even after learning Tejo's role and abilities, there are quite a few things that the game doesn't tell you about him, and it's important to know these things if you want to play him competitively. These can range from the general tactics to use his abilities to the best agents he can counter.
While Tejo's abilities might seem simple in theory, you can use them in many different ways to surprise the enemies in every round, and here are a few tips to help you do that:
While Tejo is an Initiator, the only ability that you can use to aid your teammate in entry is the Stealth Drone. While you can use your missiles to clear corners as well, it's far better to save them for postplant as long as you know that your team can entry. Once you get the plant down, you can make it very difficult for the enemy team to diffuse it.
Firstly, they'll have to enter the site and clear all the close angles. When they do this and finally get on the spike, you can instantly shoot both your missiles on the spike and force them to move. If you have your Ultimate, you can use it right after that to make it impossible to diffuse in time, giving you the round without even having the enter site.
If you've played as Tejo even for a bit, you'll quickly realize that you can shoot two missiles in the Guided Salvo ability but you only have one charge for it. This means that even if you only use one of these missiles, it'll still go on a full 40-second cooldown before you can use them both again.
This makes it inefficient to use one missile in any scenario. Even if you only want to clear one place, it's recommended to use the second missile in the best second spot instead of wasting it. This can be used to either clear another angle or destroy utilities of other agents.
When you hear about the fact that your drone can easily reveal all enemies around it, you might end up going past a corner with your drone without checking it. This is usually a bad idea since your team enters right behind the drone, and they might get killed by an enemy hiding in one of these corners before you trigger your reveal.
When you're using the Stealth Drone, it's important to consistently look around and check every small corner so that other team members can freely enter the site since they'll have fewer angles to check.
Killjoy and Cypher are two of the most frustrating agents to go against in Valorant since they can set up their utility on a site and play far back while getting free kills and damage on the enemies. Generally, if you have one of these Sentinels in the enemy team, you'd scout out the sites and completely avoid wherever you see their utility.
