Developing relationships in Dragon Age: The Veilguard is a massive part of the game. Not only does it allow you to play new side quests and have new conversations, but a stronger connection will make companions more useful in combat.
On top of simply being nice when talking to your crew, you can also give them gifts to improve your relationship with them. The gifts are scattered around Thedas, so you have to go out of your way to get them. Each is unique to a single character, so you'll need to do some searching to find them all.
There is one gift in the game for each of the seven companion characters. They all need to be bought, with each one being found at a different merchant.
They will always be locked behind upgrading a faction's shop (or completing a side quest in one case), so you'll need to complete side quests for factions to allow you to increase the rank of shops and buy gifts. The price, location, and name of the gift for each companion can be seen in the table below.
Companion Name |
Gift |
Shop Location |
Price |
---|---|---|---|
Harding | Hinterland Oak | Black Emporium in Dock Town | Three Etheric Remnant |
Neve | Collected Evidence | Dock Town Faction Merchant | 90 Gold and 10 Flawless Crystals |
Bellara | Elven Frog Figurine | Arlathan Forest Merchant | 70 Gold and 10 Flawless Crystals |
Tassh | Priceless Ancient Trinket | Hall of Valor Merchant | 90 Gold and 10 Flawless Crystals |
Davrin | Display On Ancient Griffons | Hossberg Wetlands Merchant | 90 Gold and 10 Flawless Crystals |
Lucanis | Antivan Tea Set | Treviso Merchant | 90 Gold and 10 Flawless Crystals |
Emmrich | Haunted Statuette | Necropolis Halls Merchant | 60 Gold and 10 Flawless Crystals |
Once you've purchased a gift, a new side quest will be added to your journal. That side quest will be "Fit For..." and then a hint about who it's for. Simply follow the objective markers with the quest active to give the gift to the corresponding companion.
You cannot give gifts as part of a separate quest or conversation. You need to head to The Lighthouse and speak to the companions in their own room to give them the gift.
After a very short conversation, the quest will be complete and your relationship level with the companion will increase a little.
