Purchased Mementos usually cost 150 gold to buy, but otherwise work just like any other Memento, being added to your Library and granting the 50 Caretaker Reputation Points.

You need to find a lot of Mementos to upgrade the Caretaker's shop. Just to upgrade him to rank two, you need 750 Reputation Points, so you will need to pay attention during exploration as you complete quests.
