Attribute application@appComponentFactory Conflict: Resolving the Issue
Error Statement:
An error occurs during the Android project build, indicating a conflict between the attribute application@appComponentFactory present in multiple libraries:
ERROR: Manifest merger failed : Attribute application@appComponentFactory value=(androidx.core.app.CoreComponentFactory) from [androidx.core:core:1.0.0] AndroidManifest.xml:22:18-86 is also present at [com.android.support:support-compat:28.0.0] AndroidManifest.xml:22:18-91 value=(android.support.v4.app.CoreComponentFactory). Suggestion: add 'tools:replace="android:appComponentFactory"' to element at AndroidManifest.xml:9:5-44:19 to override.
Root Cause:
This error arises when you have both Android Support Libraries and AndroidX Libraries in your project. The application@appComponentFactory attribute is present in both libraries, resulting in a conflict.
Solution:
To resolve this issue, you need to migrate your project to AndroidX or downgrade your Firebase dependencies.
Migrating to AndroidX:
Downgrading Firebase Dependencies (Not Recommended):
If you do not wish to migrate to AndroidX immediately, you can downgrade your Firebase dependencies to a version that supports Android Support Libraries. However, this is not a long-term solution as Firebase will eventually require AndroidX.
