Login/register with firebase Vue JS #STEP (login)

Let's create the project login route, let's focus on this structure below.

.
├── src
│   └── router
│       └── index.js

In the index.js file we will add the following:

import { createRouter, createWebHistory } from 'vue-router'
import { getAuth, onAuthStateChanged } from 'firebase/auth'
import Login from '@/module/login/view/login.vue'
import Register from '@/module/register/view/register.vue'
import Home from '@/module/home/view/home.vue'

const router = createRouter({
  history: createWebHistory(),
  routes: [
    {
      path: '/',
      name: 'home',
      component: Home,
      meta: {
        requiresAuth: true
      }
    },
    {
      path: '/login',
      name: 'Login',
      component: Login
    },
    {
      path: '/cadastro',
      name: 'Register',
      component: Register
    }
  ]
})

const getCurrentUser = () => {
  return new Promise((resolve, reject) => {
    const removeListener = onAuthStateChanged(
      getAuth(),
      (user) => {
        removeListener()
        resolve(user)
      },
      reject
    )
  })
}

router.beforeEach(async (to, from, next) => {
  const currentUser = await getCurrentUser()

  if (to.matched.some((record) => record.meta.requiresAuth)) {
    if (currentUser) {
      next()
    } else {
      alert("Você não tem acesso a essa página, por favor, autentique-e!")
      next('/login')
    }
  } else if (
    currentUser &&
    (to.path === '/login' || to.path === '/cadastro'
  ) {
    next('/')
  } else {
    next()
  }
})

export default router

Note that now, our route file is much fuller, we added the firebase/auth import so we can create validations so that the user cannot access the screens without being authenticated.

In short, this part underneath the const router checks user authentication before each navigation on protected routes. The getCurrentUser function uses the onAuthStateChanged method to monitor authentication and returns a promise with the authenticated user. In router.beforeEach, it checks whether the route requires authentication (indicated by meta.requiresAuth). If the route is protected and the user is authenticated, it allows access (next()). If the user is not authenticated, it displays an alert and redirects to /login. If the user is already authenticated and tries to access /login or /cadastro, it redirects them to the home page (/), in addition, we added a route to Home and another to /login.

About Home, I'm not going to create the file, I just put it there so you can see how it will work to check whether or not the user can have access.

Now, let's move on to creating our actual registration component, its functions and its call, so let's focus on this structure.

|           └── component

|           └── controller
|               └── loginController.js
|           └── view
|               └── login.vue

      // Note que aqui, temos um switch/case com os possíveis erros que o firebase retorna, essa variável `errMsg` está lá no `formLogin.vue` para que o usuário possa ver o erro que está retornando
      switch (error.code) {

export { loginController }

Login.vue file.

<template>
  <form-login :controller="controller" />
</template>

<script setup>
import { loginController } from '../controller/loginController'
import FormLogin from '../component/formLogin.vue'
const controller = loginController()
</script>

And with that, we finish our registration and login screens, in this post we add the route to /login, we add validations to router/index.js so that the user can only access the home page if they are authenticated and we create the login component , at the end of everything, accessing /login you should see a screen similar to the one below:
