Tesla is rolling out the latest Full Self-Driving (Supervised) version 12.5.5 and with it comes the promised Cybertruck FSD option at long last, ten months after the pickup went on sale with the feature included in the Foundation Series trim price.
FSD 12.5.5 is first being pushed to employees and Early Access Testers, but the important thing is that Tesla kept its word to launch FSD for the Cybertruck in September.
The first reviews of the Cybertruck FSD feature are largely positive, with the testers expressing their surprise how polished the driver-assist function for Tesla's largest passenger vehicle appears to be from the get-go.
FSD seemed to know the size of Cybertruck very well, made some impressive maneuvers and lane changes. Quick decision making and reactions. We noticed the visualization was a lot smoother than our Model 3s in how it depicted other vehicles movements. AutoMax was pretty good on city streets but a little bit slow on the highway. This will for sure improve once they add speed profiles to it, so not worried about it for now... E2E (End to End) was good for the short period we went on the highway but took the off ramp a little quick. Would be great to see how it handles 405 traffic at rush hour and long interstate highway stretches.
Granted, it was a bit cautious to merge into traffic and took a left in an unmarked median lane at 6:26 in the video below, as a lot of human drivers would do as well. Tesla, however, has seemingly nailed fine maneuvering and quick lane switching with the huge pickup truck even in this early pre-release version.
The FSD visualizations on the huge 17-inch display of the Cybertruck are second to none, though, with smoother frame rate and full-screen imagery that follows the Cybertruck's angular styling to the point where even the traffic lights are depicted in an edgier manner.
Releasing FSD for the Cybertruck has been on Tesla's September to-do list alongside Actually Smart Summon and FSD 12.5 on HW3 vehicles, and it delivered everything in its roadmap for the month.
October is shaping up to be even more exciting, as that is when Tesla promises to release theFSD 13 generational jump, presumably the first version that will integrate the autonomous Robotaxi and FSD-laden Teslas into one commonCyberCabride-share platform.
