Last year, AMD launched the Ryzen 9 7950X3D and Ryzen 9 7900X3D before the Ryzen 7 7800X3D, which dropped a couple of weeks later. Since then, we've seen a bunch of new 3D V-cache SKUs, such as the Ryzen 5 5600X3D, Ryzen 7 5700X3D and Ryzen 5 7600X3D, drop at random intervals. AMD plans to switch things up with Zen 5's X3D models, if a recent rumour from Chiphell is accurate.
This time, the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D will launch by itself sometime on late October with new X870 motherboards. There's a chance AMD could show off the Ryzen 9 9900X3D and Ryzen 9 9950X3D alongside it, but both CPUs will not hit shelves until next year, presumably after CES 2025. Apparently, they come with some 'special features' that set them apart from their last-gen counterparts.
Moore's Law is Dead previously speculated the Ryzen 9 9950X3D could double down on the amount of 3D V-cache. One can assume the Ryzen 9 9900 X3D will also get the same treatment; and a corresponding price bump. If accurate, both CPUs should easily top benchmark charts and sit there until Zen 6 drops. Neither SKU will be overclockable, but this has been standard since the Ryzen 7 5800X3D era.
