Hinox Guts are one of the rarer enemy drops to get in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. That’s a bit weird considering Hinox are fairly common bosses in the open world. But their Guts can be hard to get when you don’t have a solid method. So, let’s walk through the best way to get some Hinox Guts in Tears of the Kingdom.
Hinox aren’t very hard enemies to fight in Tears of the Kingdom. All you need to do is launch an arrow into their eye to stun them and follow it up with plenty of melee attacks. That means farming them isn’t too annoying.
Unfortunately, Hinox Guts are a fairly rare drop from these guys. Most of the time you’ll find plenty of Hinox Toenails and a Tooth here and there. But depending on the kind of Hinox you fight, Guts may be quite elusive.
Red Hinox are the most common type of these enemies, and while they can drop Guts, it’s rare. Black Hinox have a higher chance to drop Guts, but since they’re tougher to kill they’re harder to grind. So, the best way to farm Hinox Guts is by saving before encountering a Hinox.
That way you can just reload your save if the Guts don’t drop. But once you’ve killed a Hinox in an area, it won’t respawn until the next Blood Moon appears. Luckily, there are plenty of places to find them. Check the map below for some of the easiest spots to find Hinox.
This isn’t the location of every Hinox in Tears of the Kingdom by any means, as there are around 50 Hinox scattered across the map. But this rotation is doable no matter how far into the game you are. Just make sure to save the game before fighting a Hinox so you can try the encounter again. Then you can wait for another Blood Moon to occur before farming them again. Once you have enough, you can start upgrading armor or creating elixirs.
In TotK, Hinox Guts are used to upgrade various armor sets at Great Fairy Fountains. Here are all the armor sets that require Hinox Guts for upgrading:
Players can also fuse their weapon/arrows with Hinox Guts to boost attack power for greater damage, although I don’t recommend wasting the Hinox Guts on this since they are relatively rare. Lastly, players can use Hinox Guts to cook meals at a campfire, such as Bright Elixir, Fireproof Elixir, etc.
Hinox Guts in TotK is a great ingredient for cooking stat-enhancing elixirs. We have compiled a full list of all recipes that players can use Hinox Guts for, each with different effects. Keep in mind that the recipes below specifically call for “Monster Parts,” which means that players can use any monster part and it doesn’t necessarily have to be Hinox Guts.

The difference between Blue, Red, and Black Hinox is difficulty level and health. For example, Red Hinox is the easiest to take down, Blue is medium difficulty, and Black offers the greatest challenge. Besides having different health values, the color differences also represent how much damage they deal to you, with Black being the highest and Red being the lowest.
