First Insta360 Ace Pro 2 leak reveals 8K/30fps video, Leica lens, and dual AI chip

Action cameras have been a hot topic this season, with the GoPro Hero 13 Black set for a September 4 launch, expected to be followed by the DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro (watch unboxing footage here) expected sometime later this month, though it doesn't have a definitive release date yet.

Now, a fresh leak has revealed the upcoming Insta360 Ace Pro 2, set to replace the existing Ace Pro model (currently $349.99 on Amazon). Similar to its predecessor, it will feature the 'Co-engineered with Leica' branding. Upon closer examination, however, there are some clear distinctions.

The leaked image indicates that the Ace Pro 2 will continue to offer 8K video recording, albeit at 30 frames per second — an upgrade from the Ace Pro's 24 frames per second. A dual AI chip is also included, likely enhancing image processing, stabilization, and overall performance. The camera is equipped with a Leica Super-Summarit-A lens. Leica has used the name 'Summarit' to designate camera lenses with a maximum aperture of f/2.4 since 1949. Unfortunately, the leaked image doesn't provide any further info. We can expect the flip-up viewfinder from the Ace Pro on the Ace Pro 2 as well, but we'll have to wait for future leaks for confirmation.

The original Ace Pro was launched for $449.99, following which its price was reduced to $399.99 in April 2024. Drawing inference from the same, the Insta360 Ace Pro 2 could be priced somewhere between the $450 and $550 price point. Nonetheless, this is purely speculative, and it is probable that the final prices will vary.
