Deal | Affordable Acer Nitro 27-inch, 1440p, 240Hz gaming monitor drops to an even more tempting 9.99 in Amazon sale

Recent monitor deals have seen prices drop on some excellent high-end gaming, media consumption, and content creation displays, like the 1440p Asus TUF Gaming 34 that was reduced to $249.99. However, the 27-inch Acer NitroXV272U arguably does a better job of combining all three tasks into an affordable package, and, thanks to a recent Amazon discount, it is also down to just $249.99.

As the name vaguely suggests, the Acer NitroXV272U is a 27-inch gaming monitor with a 240 Hz refresh rate and a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels (WQHD). While it's not the biggest monitor in town, it strikes a great balance between size and resolution, making it suitable as a main monitor on a smaller desk or an affordable secondary display in a larger setup.

As far as gaming features go, the Acer NitroXV272U features AMD FreeSync Premium for tear-free gaming, while the 1440p resolution should be easy enough for even most modern mid-range GPUs to manage with high frame rates in all but the most demanding games. Acer makes claims, like 1 ms response times and 400 nits maximum brightness. In a detailed review by Monitors Unboxed over on YouTube (embedded below), the Acer Nitro XV272U W2 lived up to expectations, with response times in the region of 4 ms.

The review also found that the 27-inch Acer Nitro gaming monitor delivered 91% coverage of the DCI-P3 colour gamut, with sRGB coverage meeting Acer's 99% claim. Colour accuracy, however, did not live up to expectations, despite Acer's claims of deltaE values below 2, with the monitor exhibiting rather high deltaE values of 4.02 out of the box.

Things improve dramatically after calibration, though, with average colour deltaE values coming down to as low as 0.48. While this is something that will require extra hardware or expense, it opens up the Acer NitroXV272U W2 for a whole lot more than gaming. Brightness in Monitors Unboxed's review was also higher than expected, topping out at 438 nits in SDR mode.

While it's not a perfect display by any means, the Acer NitroXV272U W2 strikes a good balance between gaming performance, price, and colour accuracy. These qualities make it a great, affordable, do-it-all gaming monitor for anyone looking to dabble in some creative work on the side.

Check out the Acer NitroXV272U W2 on Amazon while the 38% discount brings the price down to $249.99.
