``Roman,'' the main character of ``Post Trauma,'' is a half-American, half-Japanese, middle-aged railroad worker with a metabolic syndrome, and with noticeable gray hair, he doesn't look like a horror game hero. When he suddenly finds himself in an eerie parallel world infested with strange creatures and slimy tentacles intertwined in the walls and ceiling, he wanders in search of a way out.

A playable demo version was displayed at the PlayStation booth at BitSummit Drift held in Kyoto in late July, so some of you may have heard about it from the article. This time, thanks to the kindness of Roberto Serra of RED SOUL GAMES, we were able to play the early scene of wandering around the subway, which follows the "hospital scene" shown at gamescom 2023. The development results of about a year since the last gamescom were visible as soon as the game was launched. The textures have been further drawn, the amount of garbage scattered on the floor has increased significantly, and the lighting effects have been adjusted to give the impression that Unity has been used extensively. What also caught my attention was the camera work, which was not only a fixed-point camera inspired by the early Resident Evil works, but also a dolly shot where the camera slowly moves forward while rotating as if licking a narrow passage. 　今回のセラ氏によるデモセッションでは，“ローマンを写し出すカメラ視点”だけではない，まだほかのメディアでも未公開という，ちょっとしたトリックを見せてもらった。その内容は，多くのプレイヤーがしばらくプレイを進めていて，よくよく考えてみると「どうなってんだ，コレ？」と思ってしまうはずのもので，こうした数々のギミックを加えることで飽きが来ないように努力しているという印象だ。
　セラ氏は「鏡を見てプレイヤーが気付くことになるでしょう」とヒントをくれた。

　さらに，今回リリースされたトレイラーでも描かれている，謎の女性と鉄道局の無線で連絡を取り合うシーンもあったが，当初は不気味なことを呟いているし，その声のトーンから言っても自分の命を預けるほど信用して良いのかどうかも分からない。ただ，ストーリーの本流に関わるゲームのキーキャラクターであるのは確かなようだ。

　ちなみに，少し日本語のアクセントを感じる英語で会話するローマン役の声優には，1980年代にイギリスに渡って日本人では初めてのロイヤル・シェイクスピア・カンパニーの劇団員になった著名な俳優のトーゴ・イガワ氏が起用されている。
　「ラスト サムライ」（2003年）や「スター・ウォーズ/最後のジェダイ」（2017年），最近では「テトリス」（2023年）など映画出演も多数だが，ゲームの声優としては「トータルウォー：ショーグン2」(2011年)でBAFTA賞にノミネートされたこともある。セラ氏も「これまでの彼の代表作とは異なるローマンという役も見事にこなしてもらって光栄です」と語っていた。

　そんな「Post Trauma」は，gamescom 2024に合わせて，2024年10月29日の各プラットフォーム向けリリースも発表されている。Steamストアページでは英語のみの言語対応となっているが，BitSummit Driftで公開されていたデモは日本語化されていたように，架け橋ゲームズによるローカライズも進行中だ。日本のクラシックホラーへのオマージュと，ちょっと変わった主人公像が気になるというファンならウィッシュリストに追加するのを忘れないようにしよう。
