DJI Neo: DJI gives a peek into new micro drone before global release

DJI has not officially commented on releasing any new hardware yet, let alone another drone. Nonetheless, leakers continue to find new information about one particular model that is rumoured to debut later this month. Somewhat unsurprisingly, this drone is the DJI Neo, which is anticipated to serve as DJI's alternative to the HoverAIR X1 (curr. $349 on Amazon).

This time, the likes of @JasperEllens and @Quadro_News have shared evidence that the DJI Neo's user manual has leaked online. Embedded below, the images show that the drone will support 'palm takeoff', in part because of its compact form factor but also because of its extensive propeller guards. To that end, references to the same drone on DJI's website affirm this idea, which should extend to palm landings too.

Moreover, the DJI Neo is said to feature a 12 MP camera that can capture videos in up to 4K. Unfortunately, other camera details remain unknown for now, such as optical format or aperture. On top of that, it seems that DJI will advertise the Neo as supporting QuickShots, AI object tracking and up to 18-minute flight times, 2 minutes longer than previous leaks suggested. Currently, the DJI Neo is expected to land for $329 in its Fly More Combo configuration, which should lend itself to a sub-$300 starting price for the drone itself.
