Huawei releases new budget-friendly office monitor with 100 Hz refresh rate

Huawei has released quite a few devices lately, whether that be the MatePad Air (2024) and MatePad Pro 12.2 tablets or the MateBook GT 14 laptop. Additionally, it has brought out a new version of the MateView SE, the original version of which debuted over two years ago. While the MateView SE (2024) carries over its predecessor's design and many of its specifications, Huawei has brought forth upgrades in a few areas.

Namely, the MateView SE now has a 100 Hz peak refresh rate, compared to 75 Hz for the original monitor. For some reason, this 33% refresh rate improvement has been joined by the removal of the monitor's VGA port. As such, only DisplayPort and HDMI ports remain, as does an obligatory DC power input.

The MateView SE continues to output at 1,920 x 1,080 pixels across a 23.8-inch IPS display, though. Likewise, Huawei only installs a 250-nit panel, albeit one that it claims offers 90% DCI-P3 colour space coverage and has a 92% screen-to-body ratio. Moreover, the MateView SE (2024) features an e-book mode that switches to monochrome colouring to reduce eyestrain.

Currently, the MateView SE (2024) is exclusive to China, where it retails for CNY 569 (~$91). Unfortunately, the company has not confirmed whether it intends to offer its new MateView monitor internationally yet. Nonetheless, there are other options out there, including the Acer KC242Y HBI(curr. $89.99 on Amazon)that also adds a VGA port.
