Walmart starts selling Starlink dishes at 17% discount on top of 0 regional credit offer for new users

After Home Depot, Target, Costco, and Best Buy, it is now the turn of Walmart to start selling the Starlink Standard Kit.

SpaceX is trying to expand Starlink's customer base, and the appearance of its dish at the stores of the retail juggernaut will probably do more for popularizing the satellite Internet service than any other retail presence so far.

Just like the Best Buy Starlink offer, Walmart's Starlink Standard Kit was immediately discounted, and it is now priced at $499 there, instead of the usual $599.

For comparison, SpaceX now offers the new compact Starlink Mini Kit to limited trial participants for $599, or pricier than the Standard Kit for which it currently runs a $100 off promo.

Even better, if new Starlink satellite Internet subscribers live in one of the states where SpaceX runs an additional promo, they can have the dish for $299, even at Walmart. The promo tacks $200 credit on top of the already 17% reduced Starlink kit price:

In the United States & Canada, new orders in certain regions are eligible for a one-time savings in areas where Starlink has abundant network availability. This one-time savings will be applied to your Starlink kit price when ordering on Starlink.com, and if activated after purchasing from a retailer, a service credit for the listed amount below will be applied.

The map of these designated regional savings areas is shown below, and it includes new users in 28 states, but there are caveats.

"Customers who change their service address to an address that is not a regional savings area will be billed the amount of the regional savings," says Starlink, and they also can't change their service plan for 6 months, or transfer the Starlink kit to another user for 4 months after the order is placed.

These all sound like reasonable precautions to follow for getting a Starlink Standard Kit at what Elon Musk claims will ultimately be aStarlink Mini price.
