不需要会shell。做PHP的只要掌控好WEB这一块就好了。
个人觉得linux下，能在命令行下完成环境搭建和懂点常用命令就可以了。再者shell也绝对不是多么好学

1、懂得如何在linux下搭建PHP平台，常见的有rhel和centos下建立lamp平台，推荐使用centos下的yum来组建lamp平台，速度快，新手不推荐用源码编译，复杂容易出错。
2、会一些基本的shell命令，比如移动，复制，删除文件等基本命令，知道如何重启WEB服务等，知道如何设置基本的权限即可！权限设置不对，站点容易出现怪问题，这是LINUX下PHP站点必须要搞清楚的问题。这些有用心其实也不难。
以上2点大概1到2个月即可掌握，其他基本知道一个大概即可，和PHP关系不大。
