iFixit announces termination of cooperation with Samsung: repair price is too high
On May 24, the equipment repair company iFixit announced that they had terminated their cooperation with Samsung.
Previously, iFixit and Samsung reached a partnership in 2022. The two parties will provide customers with original parts, repair tools and repair guides to facilitate customers to repair Galaxy devices.
Now two years have passed, iFixit has unilaterally terminated this service. iFixit said in a statement that there have been obstacles in their cooperation with Samsung.
One of the main reasons is that repair parts are so expensive that customers don’t want to repair them but replace them. For example, if a customer wants to replace the battery of a Galaxy device, they must replace the screen as well, and the cost is very expensive.
iFixit said that starting in June, iFixit will no longer be Samsung’s designated distributor of third-party parts and tools.
It is worth noting that despite parting ways with Samsung, iFixit currently also cooperates with Google, Valve, Lenovo, Motorola, Microsoft and other companies to provide repair services to customers.
Samsung has yet to respond to iFixit’s statement.
