就在人们等不及要看到Windows系统的下一代Windows 8如何登场的时候，有关下一代Office，也就是Office 15的传言也日渐增长。12月3日，Access团队博客发出一篇博文，让人们更加充满了期待和猜测。Access数据库团队计划在Office 15中添加新类型的SQL Server数据库支持，并向网友征集反馈。Access产品经理格雷·林霍斯特说，“我们现在还在计划的非常初级的阶段，可以努力的方向有很多，所以我们不能承诺一定会有什么样的改进。”但是，显然改进是会有的。那就欢迎大家来猜吧。
林霍斯特征求Access用户们需要的，但尚未部署进Access的SQL Server功能。他询问什么功能现在已经跟不上用户的需求，需要改进。
Access包含在Office 2010的专业版和专业增值版（Professional Plus）套装中。而预计明年6月份上市的Office 2010现在已经进入了火热的Beta测试阶段，和它的姊妹组件SharePoint Server 2010、Office网上办公套件和Office Mobile 2010一起上线供网友下载测试版。12月3日微软宣布2010公测版已经被下载100万次。
这并不是第一次有Office 15的官方消息流出。9月份SharePoint博客斯蒂芬·查普曼提到，Office 13可能会在2013年上市。不过，但愿这只是最坏的打算。也许2012年年底我们就能（赶在上船之前？）用上下下一代Office了。
