5完工意味着5.1开始了。没什么特别的。就像chrome38完工了就有39。福克斯2014完工了就有2015或者2016 标准的完善和浏览器的对标准的支持的实现之间还存在一定的差距。其实即使不宣布完工，主要的一些特性也都在几年前都决定好了。而剩下的那些细节，短期内恐怕也不会有所改善。
另外，可能很多人不了解 w3c 和 whatwg 的纠葛。
简单来说，whatwg 代表 Google, Apple, Mozilla 等除 Microsoft 的主要浏览器厂商，w3c 是一个大的团体，成员包含了大多数主流互联网公司和很多IT公司，不过成员太多，谁是打酱油的就不好说了。而现在这两家推行的 html5 标准并不是完全兼容的，二者之间存在不小的分歧。甚至在 whatwg 的计划里，html5 是没有一个完工日期的，是需要一直更新下去的标准。
目前来说，webkit 基本是按照 whatwg 的标准来开发的，而微软的 IE, 大家都懂，历史包袱太重。
所以这个完工的宣布意义多大？ 其实和表白差不多 谷歌为了绑定开发者，要重新找理由了 其实浏览器很早都支持的差不多了，下一步希望能多一些和移动web相关的提案 其实对于我们前端来讲 最重要的是如何能让人升级那该死的浏览器 W3C 说的不算，WHATWG 才是主导者和变革的引领者。 浏览器是去中心的产品，对标准的实现在各个浏览器的底层实现不同，所以标准永远是个“非标”，永远不会100%各个浏览器一致 又有新东西可以用了，等等，ie6还要兼容，好吧，还是继续以前的了。T_T
