SafariIn January 2003, Steve Jobs announced that Apple was developing its own browser: Safari.

Prior to this, Mac systems used Netscape Navigator or Internet Explorer as their default browsers.

The first official ("out-of-beta") version of Safari was released in June 2003. In April 2005, Safari became the default browser on Mac systems.
