AMD Ryzen AI Max 390: 12-core Strix Halo CPU spotted on Geekbench

A recent leak speculated AMD's upcoming Strix Halo line of laptop CPUs would include three SKUs at launch: Ryzen AI Max+ 395 (16-core), Ryzen AI Max 390 (12-core) and Ryzen AI Max 385 (8-core). The middle-of-the-pack Ryzen AI Max 390 (AMD Eng Sample: 100-000001421-50_Y) has shown up on Geekbench's new AI benchmark (OpenVINO CPU).

While not named explicitly, one can reasonably conclude it is the Ryzen AI Max 390 because the CPU in question has 12 cores. It scores 4,733, 4,944 and 13,944 points in single-precision, half-precision and quantized, respectively. That represents a minor upgrade over the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370, which scored 4,695, 4,715 and 12,669 points in the same test.

Unfortunately, the listing doesn't tell is much about the Ryzen AI Max 390's key specifications, such as boost clocks. The test system in question is a soon-to-be-announced HP ZBook Ultra model with 64 GB of RAM, effectively confirming Strix Halo will be earmarked for powerful, workstation-grade laptops. Earlier, an 8-core Strix Halo (Ryzen AI Max 385) was also benchmarked on the platform, so now we're just waiting for the top-spec model to turn up.
