I don’t know if you have opened the github.com website, or if you have created a project. It has been specified on the website that git is used. You can also guess from the name that it is github, not svnhub, nor merhub. I don't know where your doubts come from.

Both are supported. You can choose which one when building a project. Both protocols do not support the same project.
