If your software working environment is Linux, I think the development machine should also be Linux. Nowadays, unlike in the past, there are already a lot of software under Linux. Don't install dual systems. If you really want to use Windows, you can install it on another machine. Focus on linux, so at least you will be very proficient in using linux.
However, that being said, I personally use the xshell+virtual machine routine. It's quite troublesome sometimes, especially when files have to be transferred back and forth, but it's convenient with a real machine.
