If it is a personal development machine system, it is recommended to choose Debian. First of all, it is relatively close to Ubuntu and is very familiar to use. Secondly, centos updates are too conservative, such as the glibc library, etc. The version is very low, so that when I was still using it a few days ago, I couldn't even install chrome. Upgrading glibc is no small feat.
The advantage of centos is that many domestic company servers use centos. I originally used centos system as the development machine system because it is completely consistent with the server version, which can bring some convenience in many cases.
Ubuntu is very good, there is no need to change. Of course, if you are tired of Ubuntu, you must change it. After weighing it, I still recommend Debian.
If you must use redhat system, then you can consider fedora. Because fedora is designed specifically for desktop systems.
