html5 - Top and bottom center alignment is actually impossible to achieve, right?

vertical-align includes top, middle, baseline, and bottom.
Please look at the four lines in the line-height model below.

Geometrically, the geometric center line of this line-height model is between the middle line and the base line.
The middle line is above; the base line is below.
vertical-align No matter what alignment is referenced, it cannot be aligned at the geometric center.
It can only be said that the lower the height of the container, the smaller the deviation and the less distinguishable it is with the naked eye.

Is my understanding correct?
In addition, when we use display:flex;align-items:center; to center the sub-container, is it centered with reference to the geometric centerline or base line?
