Linuxシステム上のPHPでメールを送信できない

Linux システムで次のコードを使用して電子メールを送信したところ、送信が成功したことを示すメッセージが表示されましたが、実際には電子メールはまったく送信されませんでした。その理由は何なのか、ぜひご覧ください。
