Huawei mobile phones return to China's No. 1 ranking after three years! Shipments surged 70%

News on April 26, today, the market analysis agency Canalys released the China smartphone market survey report for the first quarter of 2024. Huawei regained the first place in the Chinese mainland market after 13 quarters.

The report shows that in the first quarter of 2024, smartphone shipments in mainland China were the same as the same period last year, reaching 67.7 million units.

Among them, Huawei relied on the enthusiastic market response of the Mate and nova series. Its shipments increased by 70% year-on-year to 11.7 million units, and its market share reached 17%. After 13 quarters, Huawei regained the number one position in the mainland China market.

OPPO ranked second with the outstanding performance of the Reno 11 series, with shipments falling 14% year-on-year to 10.9 million units, and its market share was 16%.

Honor ranked third with a market share of 16%, and its shipments increased by 9% year-on-year to 10.6 million units.

vivo followed closely with shipments of 10.3 million units, a year-on-year decline of 9%, and a market share of 15%.

Apple had the largest decline among the top five manufacturers, with shipments falling 25% year-on-year, ranking fifth with 10 million units shipped.

Canalys senior analyst Toby Zhu said: "The production and supply shortage issues of the Mate 60 series gradually improved in the first quarter and became an important factor driving Huawei's overall growth."

"With the continuous expansion of the Hongmeng operating ecosystem, Huawei has gradually become the third largest operating system for smartphones and other edge computing devices in the Chinese market, and is expected to break the duopoly competition between Android and iOS."
