Huawei regains top spot in mainland China’s smartphone market: Q1 2024 data revealed

According to the latest China smartphone market survey report for the first quarter of 2024 released by market analysis agency Canalys, Huawei has regained its No. 1 spot in the Chinese mainland market after 13 quarters.

According to report data, in the first quarter of this year, smartphone shipments in mainland China remained stable compared with the same period last year, totaling approximately 67.7 million units. Among many brands, Huawei achieved significant growth in shipments thanks to the strong market response of its Mate and Nova series. Specifically, Huawei's shipments increased by 70% year-on-year to 11.7 million units, and its market share also increased by 17%, successfully returning to the top spot in the mainland Chinese market.

OPPO ranks second after Huawei. The shipment volume of its Reno 11 series contributed significantly. Although it fell by 14% year-on-year, it still shipped 10.9 million units and occupied 16% of the market share. Honor's shipments increased by 9% year-on-year to 10.6 million units, ranking second with OPPO, with a market share of 16%.

Vivo ranked fourth with a shipment of 10.3 million mobile phones, with a market share of 15%. Its shipments fell 9% year-on-year. Apple jumped to the largest position among the top five manufacturers this quarter, with shipments falling by as much as 25% year-on-year, and finally ranked fifth with shipments of 10 million units sold.

According to the editor’s understanding, the production and supply shortage problems of Huawei’s Mate 60 series have been gradually improved in the first quarter, which has become an important factor in promoting the growth of Huawei’s overall shipments.
