Samsung SDI showcased future battery technology for electric vehicles to global scholars at the 37th Electric Vehicle Symposium and Exhibition (EVS37).
The Electric Vehicle Olympics is the world's largest electric vehicle seminar and exhibition. Started in 1969, it is a gathering of researchers from the global electric vehicle industry and academia. The event is known as the "Electric Vehicle Olympics". This year is the third time that the conference has been held in South Korea. The first two were in Busan in 2002 and in Goyang City, Gyeonggi Province in 2015.
This year’s conference will be held for four days at COEX in Gangnam-gu, Seoul. Samsung SDI is participating in EVS for the second time since 2015, twice the size of the previous show. It is reported that the three future-oriented electric vehicle battery technologies displayed by Samsung SDI at this exhibition are: solid-state batteries (targeting mass production in 2027), and key technologies for popularizing 9-minute ultra-fast charging of electric vehicles (targeting 2026). ), ultra-long service life of more than 20 years (target achieved by 2029).
Samsung SDI is putting solid-state batteries at the forefront of this year’s show. At the solid-state battery booth, Samsung SDI plans to introduce the unique advantages of its solid-state batteries, including proprietary anode-free technology and the industry’s highest energy density of 900Wh/L. Samsung SDI will also promote its unique "heat diffusion prevention solution." This technology quickly expels high heat and gases caused by impact or fire through the vents of the prismatic cells, minimizing heat transfer between cells.
In addition, Samsung SDI also plans to showcase new product lineups such as the "46-pi" cylindrical battery with a diameter of 46 mm, as well as battery technology that increases energy density while reducing costs.
