1. Open the geometric sketchpad, click the [Draw Point] command under the [Draw] menu, and draw points C (-2, 0), D (3, 0); use the [Line Segment Ruler Tool] to construct the line segment CD.
2. Select line segment CD and click the [Point on Line Segment] command under the [Construction] menu to construct point E. Select point E, click [Abscissa] under the [Measurement] menu to get the abscissa xE of point E.
3. Click the [Calculate] command under the [Data] menu to calculate the y value as shown in the figure below.
4. Select the xE and y values in turn, click [Draw (x, y)] under the [Draw] menu, and get point F.
5. Select points E and F, click [Trajectory] under the [Construction] menu, and get the image of the function in the interval [-2, 3].
