The Volkswagen Group announced the latest data today: In March 2024, the Volkswagen Group delivered 800,600 vehicles globally, a year-on-year decrease of 1.4%; in the first quarter, delivery volume increased by 3% to 2.1 million vehicles. The main growth drivers come from China (8%), South America (14%) and North America (5%).

In the first quarter of this year, Volkswagen’s sales of combustion vehicles increased by 4% to 1.97 million units, making up for a slight decline in pure electric vehicles (136,400 units, -3%). In the pure electric field, strong growth in China (91%) failed to fully offset the decline in Europe (-24%).

Volkswagen said that from January to March this year, new orders for pure electric vehicles in Western Europe showed signs of rapid growth. The order volume of pure electric models was more than double (154%) compared with the same period last year. Therefore, at present The order volume for pure electric vehicles is approximately 160,000 units.

The Volkswagen Group’s delivery status by region in the first quarter of 2024 is as follows:

Europe: Delivery volume is basically the same as last year, at 906,700 vehicles (-0.3%), of which 74,400 pure electric models (-24%), of which 790,100 vehicles were delivered in Western Europe (-1%) and 271,200 vehicles were delivered in Germany (-1%); 116,600 new vehicles were delivered in Central and Eastern Europe (2%).

North America: The Volkswagen Group delivered 227,100 vehicles, up 5% year-on-year, including 155,900 units in the United States (-2%), including 13,200 fully electric vehicles (-16%).

South America: Deliveries increased by 14% year-on-year to 118,500 vehicles, including 93,500 vehicles in Brazil, an increase of 26%.

Asia Pacific: Overall deliveries increased 5% to 764,800 vehicles, with the main source of growth coming from China. Deliveries rose 8% in the quarter to 693,600 vehicles, with fully electric models up 91% to 41,000 vehicles.
