IDC believes that one of the reasons for the return to growth is the low starting point. The global PC market fell by 28.7% in the first quarter of 2023, which was the lowest point in the history of personal computers.
In addition, global PC shipments have finally returned to pre-epidemic levels, with shipments in the first quarter of 2024 compared with 60.5 million in the first quarter of 2019. Taiwan is basically the same.
PC shipments began to recover in most regions, driving growth in the Americas and Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

Broken down into brands, among the top five companies, Lenovo once again topped the list with shipments of 13.7 million units, compared with 12.7 million units in the first quarter of 2023. A year-on-year increase of 7.8%, and the market share was 23.0%, an increase of 1.4 percentage points over the same period last year.
Followed by HP, with shipments of 12 million units, a year-on-year increase of 0.2% compared to 12 million units in the first quarter of 2023, and a market share of 20.1% , a decrease of 0.3 percentage points compared with the same period last year.
Dell shipped 9.3 million units, compared with 9.5 million units in the first quarter of 2023, a year-on-year decrease of 2.2%, while the market share was 15.5%, a year-on-year decrease of 2.2%. dropped by 0.6 percentage points.
Apple shipped 4.8 million units, compared with 4.2 million units in the first quarter of 2023, a year-on-year increase of 14.6%, and the market share was 8.1%, compared with the same period last year An increase of 1.0 percentage points.
The shipments of the two companies are basically the same, and the share difference is within 0.1%, so they are tied for fifth place.
