How to set Chinese in Notepad

Notepad is a simple text editor built into Windows system. It does not support Chinese by default. However, it can be easily set to Chinese by following these steps:

Step 1: Open Notepad

  • Click on the Start menu and enter in the search bar "notebook".
  • Select the "Notepad" program from the search results.

Step 2: Change language

  • In the Notepad menu bar, click "File" > "Save As".
  • In the "Save As" dialog box, click the "Encoding" drop-down menu.
  • Select "Unicode UTF-8" (or "Unicode UTF-16") from the drop-down menu.

Step 3: Save changes

  • Click the Save button to save the changes to Notepad.

After completing the above steps, Notepad will use Unicode encoding and support display and editing of Chinese. You can input, save and open Chinese text files normally.
