Recently, Google has updated the Google Files app and added a convenient scanning function, making the previous scanning tools obsolete.
According to well-known Android information leaker Mishal Rahman, the latest file management application has been pre-installed on some Android devices. Users can quickly scan documents, passports, and other images by simply tapping the new "Scan" button in the app. This action will launch the phone's camera app, and users can choose to scan the document manually or enable automatic capture.
After the scan is complete, users can crop, rotate, clean and apply filters to the scan, and the app also allows you to merge multiple scans into a single file. Eventually, the scans are saved in PDF format and stored in Documents under the Scanned tab of the Files app; they can also be found in the Google Docs/Scanned folder of your phone's storage.
There were reports that this new scanning feature was exclusive to Google Pixel phones, but that is not actually the case as users noticed that the feature is rolling out across multiple devices. It says it can test the scanning feature on Nothing Phone 2 and OnePlus Pad.
The scanning feature is similar to the Google Drive scanning feature launched last November and even uses the same user interface. But it is undoubtedly more convenient to put it in a more commonly used file application.
Launched on December 5, 2017, the Google Docs app allows users to manage storage space and find files without having to navigate through complex folders. It can also play videos, music, and podcasts, as well as open images, apps, and documents.
