三星宣布年内推出首款 256GB SD Express microSD 存储卡,读速可达 800MB/s

"The demand from mobile computing and on-device artificial intelligence applications is increasing day by day, and these two new microSD cards launched by Samsung provide an effective solution to this problem." Hangu Sohn, global vice president of Samsung Electronics’ Brand Storage Division, said, “Despite its extremely small size, memory cards can bring SSD (solid-state drive)-level performance and ultra-large capacity, helping users take full advantage of demanding modern and future applications. ”

Samsung’s first SD Express microSD memory card

Samsung has launched a new microSD card using the SD Express interface, claiming to “provide performance comparable to SSD in a compact form factor.”

Samsung said that traditional microSD memory cards use UHS-1 interface and the upper limit of reading speed is 104MB/s, while the maximum reading speed of SD Express series products can reach 985MB/s, but as of now, SD Express microSD memory cards are not yet commercially available.

Note from this site: SD Express is a new SD memory card interface that supports the PCIe Gen3x1 protocol (based on the SD 7.1 specification released in February 2019), with a theoretical transfer speed of up to 985MB/s.

Samsung claims that the sequential read speed of its SD Express microSD memory card can reach 800MB/s, which is 1.4 times that of SATA SSD (up to 560MB/s) and traditional UHS-1 interface storage It is more than 4 times that of the card (up to 200MB/s), enabling a better computing experience on various applications such as PCs and mobile devices.

In order to ensure the stable performance and reliable quality of SD Express microSD memory cards, Samsung has adopted Dynamic Thermal Guard technology, which claims to “ensure the memory card’s performance even if it is used for a long time. The temperature is always at the ideal level”.

1TB UHS-1 microSD memory card

Samsung has stacked eight layers of Samsung’s 8th generation 1Tb V-NAND on the new 1TB microSD memory card to achieve High-capacity packaging. The new 1TB microSD memory card has been tested and is claimed to have six protective properties including water resistance, extreme temperature resistance, drop resistance, wear resistance, X-ray protection and anti-magnetic protection.

The 256GB SD Express microSD memory card will be launched this year, and the 1TB UHS-1 microSD memory card is expected to be launched in the third quarter of this year.
