There are three ways to create standard channels, private channels, or shared channels in Teams. Let’s take a look at these in detail:

Use the create and join team and channel options

  • Click Create and Join Teams and Channels at the top, then select Create Channel.
  • Click to select a team and then select the team you want to create a channel for.
  • Click the drop-down list below to select a channel type, then select a channel type from Standard, Shared, and Private.
  • Finally, click Create to finally create the channel.
  • By using team name

  • Search for the team you want to create a channel for and click More Options>Add Channel.
