Intel said , the related compilation software will be complementary to the x86-64-v4 (AVX512) version for future generations of Intel CPUs, and will be expanded to the entire distribution in the coming months.

According to Intel, the APX instruction set has some main features. One of them is to increase the number of general-purpose registers from 16 to 32, which allows the compiler to hold more values in registers. According to Intel, when the same code is compiled using the APX instruction set, the number of memory loads can be reduced by 10%, and storage requirements may be reduced by 20%. This means the CPU can focus more on calculations rather than data movement. In addition, the operation of register access has become simple, and complex load and store procedures are no longer required, thereby increasing speed and reducing power consumption.

On the AVX10 side, this instruction set allows the P core and E core in the mixed architecture processor to support AVX-512 at the same time, which can also further improve compilation efficiency.

Intel has announced that they will launch Intel CPU products that support the AVX10.1 instruction set next year. The first products will be Granite Rapids from the Xeon product line. We will continue to pay close attention to relevant developments.
