Casper Labs partners with IBM Consulting to strengthen AI transparency and audit capabilities

“New solution designed to help enterprises more effectively manage training data for cross-organizational generative AI systems”

Casper Labs, an enterprise blockchain software and services provider, and IBM Consulting jointly announced the launch of a new solution designed to help customers improve the transparency and auditability of artificial intelligence systems. By leveraging blockchain technology, the solution will provide customers with greater information transparency and ensure the immutability and integrity of data, thereby enhancing the credibility and security of the system. This will enable businesses to better respond to regulatory requirements and provide more reliable data analysis and decision support.

Casper Labs and IBM Consulting plan to collaborate on a new solution based on blockchain technology, built with IBM Watsonx.governance, to provide an additional layer of analytics and policy execution for managing AI training data across organizations.

The process of training, developing, and deploying generative AI models involves multiple organizations, including model creators and end-user organizations. As different organizations integrate new data sets or make modifications to the model, the model's output changes accordingly. Many organizations need to be able to track and audit changes and to more accurately identify and correct problems. Blockchain technology can help organizations share trusted contextual information through metadata in the ledger, record model changes, and reduce potential data sharing risks where intellectual property crosses or crosses organizational lines. Through blockchain, organizations can ensure model integrity and traceability, enhance trust between partners, and facilitate more secure and transparent data sharing. The application of this technology helps to improve the credibility and sustainability of generative AI models.

Casper Labs’ solutions are planned to be built on Casper Network (CSPR). Casper Network is a tamper-proof and highly serialized ledger that also leverages IBM watsonx.governance and watsonx.ai to monitor and measure highly serialized input and output data for training generative AI systems across organizations. With Casper Network (CSPR) with its hybrid features and permissions system, organizations can better protect sensitive data in their solutions, prevent access by external actors, and control access to the data. Additionally, the solution leverages blockchain’s serialization capabilities to support version control, allowing organizations to efficiently roll back to previous iterations of AI systems if performance issues or biased output arise.

IBM Consulting will collaborate with Casper Labs to create artificial intelligence governance and technology solutions. The solution is expected to be available in beta in the first quarter of 2024 and will be widely available on channels such as the IBM Cloud Marketplace. IBM's artificial intelligence governance and technology experts will support Casper Labs.

The new solution is planned to be effective among enterprises in different industries, including financial services, healthcare and retail, and to deploy artificial intelligence solutions at scale across their ecosystem of technology and service providers.

The solution will have the following features:

· Compliance dashboard: A centralized dashboard to monitor and manage the cross-organizational use of AI systems to control their compliance with organizational ethics.

· Quality Control Toolkit: Includes tools for monitoring the quality and performance of AI systems, as well as a control interface to increase the transparency and interpretability of AI output.

· Version Control: The ability to correct performance or other problems by “rolling back” to a previous iteration of a given AI system that did not present problems.

· Audit and Reporting System: A system for auditing AI processes and generating detailed reports based on contextual metadata captured by the Casper Labs ledger.
