According to news from this site on January 8, Samsung released new products intensively at CES 2024 today. The new generation smart display M80D appeared on the booth, which has some detailed improvements compared to the old M8.
This product retains many of the hardware specifications of the 2023 M8, including a 32-inch 4K panel and a detachable camera. The previous generation M8 smart display already had some features that worked without a PC, but the new version expands on that.
The device isn't very feature-rich when used on its own, supporting only video calling via the webcam, and streaming content from providers like Netflix and Prime Video.
The monitor also supports Samsung’s Game Center, allowing users to play through cloud games. Finally, there are separate apps for controlling smart home devices, word processing, and accessing fitness metrics.
The display has HDR10 visuals, built-in two-channel speakers, and Bluetooth hardware for direct connection to other devices such as wearables, as well as a tool that allows users to quickly transfer images and text from other Samsung devices, such as Galaxy smartphones and Book laptops, to the display.
The Samsung Smart Display M80D will be available sometime this year, but Samsung has yet to announce pricing details. In comparison, the previous generation product sold for $700 (note from this site: currently about 5,012 yuan).
