Apple added inline predictive text for iPhone in iOS 17, but didn’t include a way to turn it off independently of the predictive suggestions above the keyboard. In the latest iOS 17.2 update, that changes.
Apple has improved its machine learning technology on the iPhone to make iOS more useful, and one of the features deploying the technology is inline predictive text.
Predictive text does exactly what it says – it predicts what you are going to type next and offers to complete it automatically. As you type, predicted text appears in front of the cursor. If it accurately predicts what you intend to type, all you need to do is hit the space bar and iOS will fill it in for you.
In previous versions of iOS 17, you could only disable inline predictive text by turning off predictive text, which meant you also lost the predicted words that appeared above the keyboard as you typed. Fortunately, in iOS 17.2, you can now turn off inline predictive text independently without disabling predictive suggestions.
Turn off inline predictive text
- Open Settings on your iPhone.
- Tap "General".
- Under "All Keyboards," turn off the switch next to "Show predictions inline."
#That’s what it’s all about. The new option may be popular with those who prefer a more manual typing experience or find inline predictive text suggestions distracting. Of course, if you find yourself missing the help that inline predictive text can provide, just use the steps above to get that functionality back.
The above is the detailed content of iOS 17.2: How to disable inline predictive text on iPhone. For more information, please follow other related articles on the PHP Chinese website!

mPDF
mPDF is a PHP library that can generate PDF files from UTF-8 encoded HTML. The original author, Ian Back, wrote mPDF to output PDF files "on the fly" from his website and handle different languages. It is slower than original scripts like HTML2FPDF and produces larger files when using Unicode fonts, but supports CSS styles etc. and has a lot of enhancements. Supports almost all languages, including RTL (Arabic and Hebrew) and CJK (Chinese, Japanese and Korean). Supports nested block-level elements (such as P, DIV),
