Recently, Ren Shaoqing, vice president of NIO, released a series of updates on the research and development progress of intelligent driving technology, showing that the company’s competitiveness in this field is constantly improving. Among them, the upcoming Banyan 2.3.0 version is an important step taken by NIO in autonomous driving technology
The most eye-catching thing about this update is that NIO The enhanced pilot assist system NOP (overall pilot assist NOP) will bring users a brand new driving experience. This comprehensively upgraded system can cover a variety of driving environments, including highways, urban roads, and even battery swap scenarios, providing drivers with all-round assistance. The upgrade of NOP enables it to drive autonomously on urban roads according to preset navigation routes and complete various complex tasks, such as crossing intersections, navigating lane changes, overtaking lane changes, and bypassing vehicles. More importantly, it can automatically perform safe avoidance when encountering complex scenes such as construction areas and special-shaped obstacles, thereby providing a seamless point-to-point assisted driving experience from urban roads to highways.
# According to the editor’s understanding, Ren Shaoqing said that NIO has full confidence in its intelligent driving technology. The company plans to complete verification of 250,000 kilometers of urban pilot routes by the end of the year and expand this service to 200 cities. Looking forward, by the second quarter of 2024, NIO expects to complete verification of 400,000 kilometers of urban pilot routes and expand services to more than 230 cities. This ambitious plan means that by then, almost all cities where NIO users are resident will be covered, forming an extensive network.
In the past month, Weilai has started trials of the NOP system among pioneer user groups in many cities across the country. Ren Shaoqing revealed that the company will regularly communicate with users about the latest progress of the NOP system and mileage updates to maintain close contact with users.
The progress of NIO’s intelligent driving technology is impressive. Since completing the verification of an 807-kilometer urban pilot route in Shanghai on June 30, NIO’s test range and mileage have grown steadily. By September 27, the cumulative verification routes in Shanghai and Beijing had reached 6,457 kilometers. This number increased to 34,477 kilometers on November 19, covering 17 cities.
