As Micron Technology Co., Ltd. celebrates its 45th anniversary, it announces a historic day. Their new cutting-edge assembly and test factory is located in Malaysia and officially opened on October 15, local time
Micron previously invested US$1 billion (notes on this site: currently about 7.31 billion yuan), the new factory will be built and fully equipped locally over the next few years, increasing the factory area to 1.5 million square feet (approximately 139,000 square meters).
Micron said the expansion enables Micron Malaysia to increase production and further strengthen its assembly and test capabilities, providing NAND, PCDRAM and SSD modules to meet the growing demand for technologies such as artificial intelligence, autonomous driving or electric vehicles.
Micron also said its facility in Malaysia is the first in Micron’s global network to be powered by 100% renewable electricity. Operations at this new facility will also support Micron’s sustainability aspirations to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050 and zero hazardous waste in landfills by 2030.
