Stills from the documentary trailer show a jet-powered version of the Shahed-136 being launched. (Islamic Republic News Agency)
A never-before-seen jet-powered variant of Iran's Shahed unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) is featured in a trailer for a television documentary premiering on June 26.The underside of the one-way attack drone is shown as it may have been launched from a rack mounted on a vehicle. While it has the same vertical stabilizer as the Shahed-136, it has no piston engine or propeller and only one pitot tube instead of two. A drone, possibly the same type, was then shown hitting the target. This apparently has an air intake for a small jet engine on top.
No drone is identified in the trailer, and the full documentary is not yet available online at the time of release. The portion provided begins with clips from foreign news broadcasts that mention Shahd-136s being used against Ukraine, although the Iranian government officially denies supplying them to Russia.
