CSS talks about properties

This property specifies whether the text is rendered aurally, and if so, how. Possible values are -

  • none - Suppresses auditory rendering so that the element does not take time to render.
  • normal - Renders the element and its children using language-dependent pronunciation rules.
  • spell-out - Spell text one letter at a time.

Please note the difference between elements with a "volume" attribute value of "silent" and elements with a "speak" attribute value of "none". The former takes up the same time as speaking, including any pauses before and after the element, but produces no sound. The latter takes no time and does not render.
