Recently, at the "2023 VR&AR Display Optical Technology Summit" held in Qingdao, Goertek launched a new generation of VR&AR optical display technology solutions. This solution uses high-performance manufacturing technology, cost-effective VR Pancake module and the world’s first AR-HUD PGU module with adjustable color temperature, aiming to improve the display effect of the installed product, making it clearer and better

In the field of VR, the immersion, wearing comfort and optical display effects of VR headsets are crucial to the product experience. VR optical modules using Pancake short-throw folding optical technology are lighter and smaller in weight and volume than traditional solutions, and are more in line with the development trend of lightweight VR headsets. At present, it has become the mainstream choice of VR optical display solution in the industry

In order to meet the ever-increasing performance requirements of Pancake modules, Goertek has independently developed the high-performance VR Pancake display module Interstellar C31. This module uses a folding optical path 2-piece lens design and leading curved lamination technology to effectively reduce ghosting and improve VR display quality. Compared with mainstream LCD Pancake display modules, the Interstellar C31 module increases PPD (pixel density) by 85%, MTF (clarity) by 20%, and reduces stray light by 25% while maintaining FOV 95°. In addition, this module can also be adapted to 4K quality Micro-OLED screens, significantly improving the display effect

In addition, Goertek also launched a VR Pancake display module called Interstellar P31. The module adopts a three-piece lens design and the current industry-mature flat film technology, as well as related film materials. While maintaining module cost competitiveness, the MTF of the module has been increased by 15%, and the field of view has reached 95°. It can also be adapted to 4K quality Micro-OLED screens. It has the advantages of high definition, high yield and mass production, and is suitable for various VR scene applications such as business offices, audio-visual entertainment, etc.

At this summit, Goertek not only released a new generation of VR optical solutions, but also launched the PGU module PGU4620 Gen2 suitable for automotive AR-HUD. Compared with the previous generation product, PGU4620 Gen2 has an 80% increase in brightness, and combines the latest DLPC technology to achieve a high refresh rate of 120Hz and a high contrast ratio of 1800:1

In addition, PGU4620 Gen2 also adds a multi-color temperature adjustable function, which can adjust the display color temperature according to various ambient lights of the vehicle and the needs of the driver, to meet the display needs of different user scenarios. The module structure adopts modular design, which can be quickly adjusted and developed according to needs. It can meet the customized needs of different customers while shortening the HUD development cycle and accelerating product launch. 2023 VR & AR Display Technology Summit showcases Goertek’s latest generation optical modules
