Microsoft: Windows 11 will provide support for HDR desktop backgrounds through JXR files

Microsoft today announced the release of Windows 11 Preview 23516 to Developer Channel Insiders. In this new Windows 11 version, Microsoft has introduced support for setting HDR images as desktop backgrounds.
