The AI war is getting more and more intense, and the “war for talent” has also begun to heat up. Scarce top AI talents have become the targets of major companies vying to invite them to join.
ZOOM has hired Huang Xuedong, global artificial intelligence chief technology officer of Microsoft Azure cloud services, as CTO. He will leave Microsoft.
Huang Xuedong is an "old Microsoft man". He joined Microsoft in 1993 and founded the company's speech technology team. He launched Microsoft SAPI in 1995, Speech Server in 2004, and Azure Speech in 2015, helping Microsoft bring voice technology to the mass market. He helped Microsoft expand AI technology from deep learning infrastructure to product experience, and also enabled Microsoft to achieve multiple historic AI milestones in open research tasks.
Huang Xuedong’s achievements in AI also include many papers and more than 170 patents. Wired magazine named him one of its 25 Geniuses in 2016. In 2021, he led Azure AI to win the InfoWorld Technology of the Year Award. He received the Allen Newell Research Excellence Award in 1992 and the IEEE Best Paper on Speech Processing in 1993. He was named an IEEE Fellow by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers in 2000 and an ACM Fellow by the Association for Computing Machinery in 2017.
As Microsoft's first Chinese "Global Technical Fellow" (the highest honor for Microsoft technical personnel), he currently serves as the global artificial intelligence chief technology officer of Microsoft's cloud computing and artificial intelligence division, and is fully responsible for Microsoft Azure cloud artificial intelligence work, including Speech, machine translation, computer vision, natural language and artificial intelligence cognitive services, etc.
After joining Zoom, how will he help Zoom accelerate its development in the field of artificial intelligence and what changes will he bring to Zoom products? let us wait and see.
