Go language is a fast, safe, concurrent and concise programming language. It has been favored by major companies and developers in recent years. In our project, we also use the Go language for back-end development, and through practice we have summarized some experiences that help improve team development efficiency and project quality, and now we share them with you.

  1. Choose the appropriate framework
    When choosing a framework, you must judge it based on actual needs and project scale, and cannot blindly follow trends. For small projects, you can try to use lightweight frameworks, such as Martini, Gin, etc.; while for large projects, you can consider using more mature frameworks, such as Beego, Echo, etc.
  2. Use Golang’s standard library
    Try to use the functions provided by the Golang standard library, because the standard library has been extensively tested and optimized, not only has stability, reliability and security, but also makes us a lot more convenient Work.
  3. Reasonable division of project directories
    In the Go language, the organizational structure of the folder is very important. We recommend dividing the project directory according to the MVC idea to facilitate later maintenance and modification. Generally speaking, we place controller files in the controllers directory, model files in the models directory, and view files in the views directory.
  4. Uniform code style
    In order to maintain the consistency of code style during project development, we recommend using Go’s code specification tools: gofmt and golint. The former is mainly used to format the code to ensure the readability of the code; the latter is used to check whether the code style complies with the specification.
  5. Error handling mechanism
    In the Go language, the error handling mechanism is very important. We use an error handler mechanism similar to Node.js to ensure that every error can be caught and handled. In actual projects, we can use Go's Panic/Recover mechanism to handle errors gracefully.
  6. Concurrency control
    The concurrency mechanism of the Go language is one of its biggest features, but at the same time, attention must be paid to the security of concurrency control to avoid data competition and deadlock problems. To this end, we recommend using the lock mechanism, pipeline mechanism, and coroutine mechanism provided by the sync package provided by Golang to achieve reasonable concurrency control.
  7. Write standardized interface documents
    After the project development is completed, we need to provide complete interface documents to facilitate the use and understanding of other developers and users. For this reason, we recommend using Swagger or other framework libraries that focus on API documentation to display interface documents more beautifully and standardizedly.
