IT House News on May 23, Microsoft announced today at its annual Build developer conference that it will use the same open standards as OpenAI to develop plug-ins for its Bing chat and Copilot platforms. This means the plugins will be able to interoperate between Bing Chat, the Copilot platform, and OpenAI’s chatbot ChatGPT.
This is another important step for Microsoft to deepen cooperation with OpenAI. Earlier this year, Microsoft expanded its partnership with OpenAI with a "billion-dollar" investment, and a few weeks later launched Bing Chat based on OpenAI's GPT-4 technology.
Plugins are an important way to enable chatbots such as Bing Chat and ChatGPT to increase their capabilities and obtain new sources of information. OpenAI started supporting the ChatGPT plug-in in March this year, and Microsoft has now committed to supporting the same open standard, which will provide developers and users with more possibilities to build and use plug-ins across platforms.
