HomeDevelopment ToolsgitHow does the server pull git code?

This article mainly introduces how to pull Git code from the server and common Git operations.

1. Server environment preparation

On the server side, we need to install Git first and configure it to ensure that the server can interact with Git smoothly. Generally speaking, Linux systems have Git installed by default. You can check it by using the following command:

$ git --version

If it is not installed, you can use the following command to install it:

$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install git

2. Create Git Warehouse

After creating the Git warehouse in the local warehouse, we need to upload it to the server. First, we need to create a warehouse directory on the server side, as shown below:

$ mkdir /path/to/repo

Next, we need to initialize the directory as a Git warehouse:

$ cd /path/to/repo
$ git init --bare

In the above instructions, -- The bare parameter is used to create a "bare" Git warehouse, which only has basic Git functions such as code submission, pulling, and branch management, and does not involve the work tree and staging area.

3. Upload the local warehouse to the server

In the local warehouse, use the following instructions to upload the local warehouse to the server:

$ git remote add origin ssh://user@server/path/to/repo
$ git push origin master

Among them, user is the user name of the server, server is the server IP address or domain name, /path/to/repo is the created warehouse directory.

This command is used to push the local master branch code to the server-side Git repository.

4. Pulling code from the server side

To pull Git code on the server side, you need to pull it from the Git repository on the server side. In the local terminal, use the following command:

$ git clone ssh://user@server/path/to/repo

This command is used to clone the Git code from the server to the local directory.

5. Common Git operations

  1. View branches

On the server side and local warehouse, use the following instructions to view the current branch:

$ git branch
  1. Switch branch

In the server side and local warehouse, use the following instructions to switch branches:

$ git checkout <branch-name>
  1. Pull the latest code

In the local warehouse, use the following command to pull the latest code:

$ git pull
  1. Submit the code

In the local warehouse, use the following command to Submit code:

$ git add <file-name>
$ git commit -m "commit message"
$ git push origin <branch-name>

The above commands are used to add files, submit to the local warehouse and push to the Git warehouse.

Summary

Through the above steps, we can pull the Git code on the server side and perform common Git operations. Git is a very powerful tool that can optimize and standardize team collaboration processes and improve project development efficiency. Hope this article is helpful to readers.
